I was flicking channels the other night and managed to catch Gok Wan in his highly entertaining show ‘How To Look Good Naked’. This programme is great because he knocks the current trend of having super skinny women on the show. He always has what I would class as ‘normal’ women on his show, all of whom are just an average size.   However, when these women look in the mirror they don’t see who they really are, and mostly think they look larger than they actually are.   Gok is brilliant because he sees the real person in everybody.

The brilliant thing about Gok is that he never asks the women to loose weight in order to achieve a better look.   Instead what he does is simple – he builds up their confidence to make them see that they are beautiful as they are.

The episode I watched the other night had a size 14 lady featuring on it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being size 14, but she felt unattractive and frumpy. She really hated the fact that she was nearly 6ft in height.   Watching Gok cast his magic wand over her was such an inspiration because he doesn’t actually do a lot.   He showed her what sort of clothes she could wear, and put her in some killer heels, but apart from that everything she achieved was because she was starting to have confidence in her body and actually beginning to like who she was and what she saw.

One vital tip I have picked up from Gok’s show is that it is important to not only wear the right clothes that suit your size, but imperative to accessorise your clothing.

A lot of the time it is actually the accessories that make the outfit.  Bearing this in mind, I have recently built up my collection of silver chains and silver pendants.  I think that silver compliments any item of clothing and now I have a collection of silver sets ready for any occasion.

So with this all in mind, I am nearly there, I just wish I could get Gok to come round to my house and sort out my confidence!
