How to Develop Your Own Acne Diet
An acne diet sounds like a wonderful idea. Who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate may make you break out. I believe we all have. If you think about it its not so far-fetched that by watching your diet you could prevent acne.
However, an acne diet can be a hard thing to develop. This type of diet is highly personal since is is based on each individual’s response to foods. Progress, for the most part, will be trial and error. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Make note of any changes. You could keep a photo journal. If and when your skin clears, stick to the diet that you were using at that time.
The following are some easy guidelines to help get you started on an acne diet:
1. Up your intake of protein. Many dermatologists are under the belief that protein is connected with clearer skin. The reason for this belief is because protein has an enzyme that will limit the production of oils. Oily skin has always been susceptible to breakouts.
2. Avoid carbohydrates. Don’t cut yourself off completely. However, you do need to limit them to about 40 percent of your diet. Carbohydrates contain compounds that stimulate oil production. This is the reason that junk food has the reputation that it causes acne. In reality junk food just has a high carb content.
3. Try to drink green tea. If at all possible try to drink the real stuff. Brewing the green tea is the best way to drink it. You really may not like the real green tea so the natural green tea drinks will work Androgen production will be limited when you drink green tea. Breakouts can be caused by the hormone called androgen.
4. Try to limit the amount of salt you intake. Salt most always contains iodine. This is the reason why you hear table salt called “iodized salt.” For some people with acne, iodine can be a major inflammatory agent.
While watching what you eat, you should also be very careful with what you put on your face. You should know what ingredients are in your beauty products if you have acne. Those who are prone to acne should look for oil free moisturizers. These are least likely to cause a breakout. Mineral makeups are a good investment, if you wear makeup. By using mineral makeup you may actually ease acne problems and increase the results of your acne diet.
