Is Latisee the Best Eyelash Growth Serum for You?
Long Sexy eyelashes can be yours, but choosing the right product to grow long eyelashes is important.
Without a doubt, the prescription drug Latisse is both the priciest and the most effective upper lash growth-stimulant product on the market.
Originally developed by Allergan as a drug to treat glaucoma, bimatoprost, which is Latisse’s main ingredient, was found to grow thicker and longer eyelashes as a surprising but decidedly pleasing side-effect in glaucoma patients. Allergan, which just also happens to be the pharmaceutical titan behind Botox, realized it was sitting on yet another goldmine and patented the first FDA-approved eyelash growth drug.
And it works - most users report noticeably longer, fuller eyelashes within 7 weeks of daily utilization, though Allergan itself states that 12 to 16 weeks of use is needed before achieving real results.
Latisse is not without its drawbacks, however.
First, it is only available by prescription, it is high-priced, and it’s not covered by insurance. So , in addition to a doctor’s visit (which your insurance may or may not cover), you will need to spend around $120 for an one month’s supply. And because your lashes are constantly regenerating themselves, you will need to refill your prescription each month in order to keep your new, lush lashes.
Second, because it may cause unwanted hair growth even with careful application, Latisse is not approved for use on the lower lashes (where misplaced and ingrown lashes are likely) or on the brows.
Third, you run the risk of suffering some upsetting complications. In trials, 4% of users reported eye irritation, itchiness, aridity or rosiness. A fairly less common side-effect is hyper-pigmentation (darkening) of the eyelid, which only reverses itself with discontinuation of the product’s use. Another less common, but irrevocable, side-effect is a darkening of the iris itself - that is, Latisse may turn your blue eyes brown - permanently!
Other known complications include the loss of periorbital fat (fat round the eyes that give the eye area fullness) and in a number of cases, eyelash shedding.
Last year, the Huffington Post issued a news report about Latisse representative Claire Danes having suffered significant skin damage as a result of her use of Latisse. Claire, states in her video blog: “When I first started using Latisse, I did actually have a side effect. The skin around my eyes [was] a little bit red. That lasted for about a week. Since then, no, I haven’t had any side effects.”
So what are the best nonprescription alternative choices to Latissse to grow longer eyelashes?
RevitaLash, RapidLash, SmartLash, RapidLash and idolLash are the most well liked. These “over the counter” choices are safe and efficient eyelash growth-enhancement products. You will have to order them online, however.
So don’t wait!! The gorgeous appealing eyes you are supposed to have are just a click away! Start on your journey toward having the fullest, longest, lushest eyelashes and the tantalising magnetic eyebrows you can.
