Pimples Have an Effect On a Person Socially
Anyone that has graced our earth long enough to go through his or her teenage years, has reached a stage in their life that is called puberty. Puberty, while different for everyone, is a time in life where the largest hormone changes and sexual growth take place. Common characterstics that are defined during this time are the changes in voice (mainly in men), enlargement of breasts (in women), development of pubic hair, etc.
A common ’side effect’ of puberty is the more frequent occurance of pimples. Pimples are a type of lesion on the surface of the skin that are caused by swelled or otherwise blocked pores. Most often a result of acne, they may also be symptomatic of other unrelated conditions as mundane as a simple bug bite. A ‘pimple’ is just a accumulation of puss located under the skin. It is a concentration of dead white blood cells (and other matter) that results from the body’s own natural battle to fight off this irratation - whether it is acne, a disease or a bug bite.
Noone that I have met likes pimples, and they have become a huge social issue in today’s society. This is largely because of the direct affect that they have on the way someone looks and many people derive their sense of worth based on the way they look. Even though the exact opposite may be true, pimples have the affect of making one appear ‘dirty’.
It isn’t hard to eliminate or reduce a pimple, all you have to do is squeeze on the area from both sides. This pressure on the area will cause the small section of the skin where the pimple is located to rupture, allowing the puss trapped inside to come out. This is the most widely accepted method, however, it is usually discouraged by dermatologists. Studies have shown that in squeezing the pimple you can actually force some of the puss and bacteria to be pushed deeper into the skin. This will, in turn, cause more infection to develop. Often times the person’s hands are dirty and this will also be the cause of prolonged irritation.
Proper treatment includes keeping the areas as clean as possible and keeping any known irritants away from the skin. In many cases, if the source of the irritation is removed, the pimples will clear up soon after. While figuring out what the ‘irritation’ is during many cases of acne is difficult, it is worth trying. Often there are simple solutions that have produced very good results.
