While male facial hair is a reason to celebrate, women struggle with facial hair removal all the time. As mammals, we are all endowed with hair all over our bodies, something that has been passed down to us from our forefathers for the reason of protection and insulation. Unfortunately for females, it is now considered ugly to have facial hair and even males are expected to keep theirs neatly groomed.

Males get off easy when it comes to facial hair removal. All they need to do is shave off unwanted hair, and if mistakes are made, that’s okay because it grows back fast. But that too can be a tedious process. To keep to a style, men have to repeat the facial hair removal daily or every other day, because their hair grows quite fast. Shaving the first thing in the morning every day is something many men have to do. So, for the men who feel that facial hair removal is an unnecessary chore, there’s the option of growing it. Women, however, are not so lucky.

If a woman has hair over her upper lip or unusually thick eyebrows, she’s most likely to be considered ugly and treated that way. To make matters worse, facial hair removal for women isn’t a simple case of shaving. For example, women don’t have the luxury of allowing their facial hair (read: hair on upper lip and eyebrows) grow more than a certain amount, and most women have to use some sort of facial hair removal method or the other at least once in two weeks. On the up-side, there are lots of facial hair removal procedures to choose from.

Sometimes creams known as depilatories are used for facial hair removal. This has to be done with care, as the creams can get too strong, and so cause wounding on the area used. Another method used is waxing, of the whole face if need be. This can be a bit painful, and there are also doubts if this could causes sagging of skin in later years.

Cotton thread can be used in a facial hair removal procedure known as threading. Facial hair removal’s latest trend is that of using a laser. This solves the problem for longer, although it does take longer to show results.  Even though it is a better permanent hair removal solution, one must consider the laser hair removal costs - it can be quite an investment.  Also, this method has to be practiced with caution as well, and done in a reliable place.
