Skin needling - how it can help you
Collagen Induction Therapy is often a procedure that involves a trip to the doctors (or a specialist). However, skin micro-needling is a variety of collagen induction therapy which can be carried out in your own house, in your own time; this smoothes out wrinkles, reduces scarring and reduces stretchmarks.
A common factor in the creation of scars, wrinkles, stretch marks and uneven skin is a lack of collagen. Micro needling encourages collagen production in the skin, which helps prevent or reverse their formation, this can only be achieved if skin needling is carried out frequently to keep the skin healing until it has healed to an acceptable level.
Skin needling (micro needling) is a process carried out using a roller that is covered with several tiny needles. These needles puncture the topmost layer of skin and carefully part the pores of the skin. This method has two great advantages; it effectively triggers collagen generation at the same time as allowing topical gels and creams to be absorbed more effectively through the upper layer (epidermis) of skin. Skin micro needling creates a very minor trauma which only lasts for about an hour and doesn’t cause the skin any real harm such as bleeding in the treated area in the way that laser therapy or microdermabrasion do.
The microscopic punctures (which are often just the opening of the pores of your skin) caused by the skin micro-needling, stimulate collagen production in the dermis layer and it creates an appropriate environment for collagen and elastin formation. These key ingredients help the skin to cosmetically renew.
There are several alternatives to Microneedling, most of which require visits to clinical beauticians or other specialists. These include laser therapy and Micro-Dermabrasion. Using a Micro needling roller at home is generally much cheaper.
